2013 Enlighten Summer Camp Review

“Time flies” is an old saying used to describe how quickly time passes when one is happy.
In the short 10 weeks of the summer, over 150 students from grades K to 8th attended Enlighten Happy Summer Camp and learned various skills that they never even knew of before. The camp was a mixture of culture, education, and of course, fun.
Throughout the weeks, students learned many basic life skills such as cooking, as well as
entertainment activities. In addition, the camp staff made sure safety and health was the first
priority. Meals were selected carefully for nutrition and games were monitored to be safe but
enjoyable. Camp schedules are regulated so that the children are never too worn out or bored. In a safe classroom environment, children were taught subjects such as Chinese, math, English, and science. It was a delight to watch the kids develop skills in math and English, and then go outside to exercise in a game of Capture the Flag. Free time is then offered for students to rest, play, and make new friends. The camp visibly allowed students to express themselves in various activities.
Education may be important, but culture is just as crucial. Therefore, the camp offers
classes in Chinese and Chinese culture. The students were introduced to Chinese culture and
education through hands-on experiences. The Kite Festival, for example, allowed the children to learn the intricate procedure of kite-making and the exciting experience of flying a kite. The
Festival show featured experts in the Chinese yo-yo, kung fu, Chinese dance, Calligraphy, silkmaking, and Chinese painting. The Chinese yo-yo is one of the examples of traditional arts
passed down from generation to generation. The students were able to experience such rare skills for themselves while being taught by experts.
Overall, Enlighten Happy Summer Camp was a wonderful opportunity for students to experience rare skills, hands-on education, and a summer of fun. We’d like to say special thanks to our volunteers. It is because of you, and your commitment to our campers, that they have the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, and work together to make their world a better place. Please know that the impact you have on our campers, each and every day, will stay with them the rest of their lives. The courage, confidence and character with which you lead our campers will help instill these same qualities in them, and will help them achieve their true potential.
At last, we thank all the parents for your trust and support every step of the way. Thank you for
those precious memories that our campers brought to us since the very first day. For camp

Thank and looking forward to seeing you in the future!
