Bee Cookies for Bee Hives for Schools in Africa Village

My name is Asha Fischer.  I’m a fourth grader at Guadalupe Elementary School and attend the Enlighten Enrichment School.

In Africa, life isn’t as easy as it is in the U.S. … especially for woman. They need to gather wood each day, milk the cows, feed their farm animals, walk 1-2 miles each day with a bucket on their head to hold water, and much more. And the children, unlike those in the United States, don’t have enough school supplies. So, my family and I decided to sell something everyone loves. COOKIES!

And that’s what we did.  I made a poster to let everyone know about our cookie sale and I helped make lots of bee cookies.  The parents and teachers of Enlighten helped us to raise $101.  We’re going to use that money to purchase a stingless beehive for an East African village school so that they can raise the bees, sell the honey, and purchase school supplies year after year.

We came up with this idea after my parents returned from Africa this summer.  While they were there, they discovered this rare Stingless Bee honey. People who have already tasted it thought it was spicy, tangy, or even tingly. One said he’d buy it!

I really appreciate your help raising the money and making a difference in the lives of African village children.

The best surprise is that after we raised $101 from the cookie sale at Enlighten Enrichment school, the school decided to match the raised amount, now we can double the impact!
