STEMtrek

Course Description:

(For students Grade K – 5)

StemTrek: Exploring Physics is designed to explore the wonders of science through a series of interactive workshops. This program teaches physics concepts such as gravity, simple machines, magnetism, and more. Students will create fun physical projects to take home to continue to explore. They will also get opportunities for collaboration between classmates. From building a tower to launching catapults, STEMtrek is a fun way to spend the summer learning through playing!

Schedule: 6/10/24 – 6/14/24, 9:00AM – 12:00PM.

Instructor:  Ruth Li, Leo Tsai, Anoushka Pandya

Ruth Li is in class of 2026 at Archbishop Mitty High School. She’s the founder and CEO of STEMMABLE (stemmable.org). She is passionate about microbiology, conducting research at UC Santa Cruz. An avid robotics designer, her dream is to pass on her STEM knowledge to younger generations. She has 5+ years of experience teaching children in the Children’s Discovery Museum and public libraries.

Leo Tsai is in the clsass of 2026 at Bellarmine College Preparatory. He’s passionate about STEM, game design, and especially the gamification of learning. Over 100,000 people have palyed his games online! He’s able to effectively apply game design principles to STEMtrek lesson planning and make learning fun. He’s also taught as an ESL teacher for two years.

Anoushka Pandya is in the class of 2026 at Saint Francis High School Aside from teaching STEM workshop with STEMMABLE, she runs a newspaper partnered with her school that talks about diseases, technological innovations, and breakthroughs in science. She loves to sing and is part of the A Capella group, and is beloved by kids for her fun and interactive teaching style.
